Community Responsibility

Our business thrives because of the communities in which we work, so Benjamin Moore works to give back to those communities. Our good neighbor policy aims to meet the needs of the present without jeopardizing the needs of the future.

Our North American Strategic Philanthropy supports charitable giving in six areas:

Locally, each Benjamin Moore facility also supports programs that strengthen its community.

Protecting
Manufacturing takes from the earth, so we work to protect and restore. Sound environmental management drives all our business practices and charitable giving. All of our manufacturing facilities operate under a stringent environmental code of conduct and policy; three are certified by the Wildlife Habitat Council. We actively give to and work with the WHC, the National Audubon Society, the Raptor Trust, Community Lead Education and Reduction Corps (CLEARCorps/USA), and the Scenic Hudson River Restoration Project.

Preserving
Benjamin Moore is proud of its role in preserving America’s architectural heritage. We supply the paints, finishes, and tools for historic restoration projects Coast-to-coast, including The Mount, Edith Wharton’s home in Lenox, Massachusetts; the Thomas Cole house in Catskill, New York; Villa Montezuma in San Diego, California; the Opal Lawrence House, in Mesquite, Texas; and the Morris Jummel Mansion in New York City.

Providing
Benjamin Moore is the North American Paint Provider for the Ronald McDonald House Charities®. We also donate paints and services to homeless shelters, housing programs, disaster relief programs, and medical treatment facilities. Our Model Cities program - Lead Free Is Best for Me - supports outreach in underserved communities to ensure that at-risk children are protected from and tested for lead poisoning. We also provide opportunities for people of diverse backgrounds and skills to achieve their full potential by supporting work/life organizations and national programs for the advancement of minorities.

Generosity begins at work
First responders, educational and youth programs, environmental support, historic preservation, and disaster relief programs are at the heart and soul of our communities. That’s why they’re the beneficiaries of our local charitable efforts. Community ResponsibilityDays and “Project Wild” classes hosted by Benjamin Moore employees are award-winning programs. With our Employee Double Matching Gift program, Benjamin Moore personnel can provide additional support for the nonprofit organizations of their choice.

Paint and the Environment
Our ongoing effort to produce the highest-quality paints, finishes, and coatings is also reflected in our long-term commitment to preserving the environment. We seek always to ensure that our products are manufactured and used in an environmentally responsible manner.
