Benjamin Moore is privileged to provide the paint that helps make Ronald McDonald Houses welcoming and comforting havens.
As the North American paint provider to Ronald McDonald House Charities®, Benjamin Moore donates both the interior and exterior paint needed by these homes away from home for critically ill children and their families.
Located around the globe, generally close to children's hospitals, Ronald McDonald Houses give families a place to stay while their children receive treatment. They are a refuge from hospital waiting rooms. Families have their own private rooms, along with community kitchens and laundry facilities.
Of course, toys abound for the children, along with an understanding and compassionate staff. Families are asked for only a small contribution, but no one is turned away because of their inability to pay.
Benjamin Moore is proud to be a steadfast supporter of the crucial programs and services that RMHC provides to families around the world. Over the last decade, we have donated more than 100,000 gallons of paint to help create colorful, embracing, and well-maintained environments.
About the Ronald McDonald House Program
The Ronald McDonald House program was started in Philadelphia in 1974 through a partnership between Dr. Audrey Evans; Philadelphia Eagles player Fred Hill; Leonard Tose, owner of the Eagles; Jim Murray, the Eagles' general manager; and Ed Rensi, McDonald's regional manager.
When the daughter of Eagles tight end Fred Hill became seriously ill with leukemia, the family struggled to stay close to her in the hospital. During their daughter's treatment at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, Hill and his wife spent many long, anxious nights in dismal waiting rooms, eating out of vending machines and snatching sleep on chairs.
Determined that there was a better way to stay close to their child and to help other families in the same situation, Hill enlisted the support of his teammates, a doctor, McDonald's, and an entire community. Together, they raised the money for the purchase and renovation of the house that became the first Ronald McDonald House.
Today, there are more than 309 Ronald McDonald House programs in 30 countries. To date, the program has assisted millions of parents and children worldwide.
