Faces of Design: Five Years of Celebrating the Industry’s Top Interior Designers, Architects, and Professional Painters
Welcome to the fifth annual Faces of Design, a partnership with Luxe Interiors + Design and Benjamin Moore. This year’s class features 12 creative leaders shaping the industry through colour, craft, and a shared appreciation for the versatility and power of paint.
Since our inaugural class in 2022, Benjamin Moore’s Faces of Design has honoured the partnerships that transform spaces with iconic colour, trusted quality, and a legacy of craft. This year, we celebrate five years of recognizing the designers and painting professionals who use colour not as a final layer but as a defining element of atmosphere, character, and enduring artistry across disciplines and destinations.

Guided by a room-by-room progression of colour, Mallory Robins and Elizabeth Bennett of KOBEL + CO tie their design to how clients want their days to unfold. “Every room can have its own purpose, but the story must feel cohesive,” Robins says. That narrative emerged in a recent project with a Tapestry Gold 2153-30 card room, a custom blue living room, and the “Hostess Hall,” where New London Burgundy HC-61 created a jewel-box effect, using Saint Martin Sand 2164-50 as a soft counterpoint. “We wanted colour that felt classic, not trend-driven; vibrant, but with a little grit,” Bennett shares.
Bringing that vision to life required Jonatan Correa, whose command of prep, product, and application translated bold ideas into lasting finishes. “I need to understand the vision so I can choose the products and sheens that deliver the right feeling,” he explains. Together, the united trio proves paint is never just backdrop; when expertly realized, it becomes atmosphere.

Tina Ramchandani has a gift for making tonal spaces feel composed, using texture, material contrast, and nuanced finishes to create depth. In her NYC apartment, that instinct turned inward, shaping a retreat with an air of serenity and ease. “We all want to feel warm, enveloped, and comforted when we return home,” Ramchandani says. Stone Hearth CC-490 became the starting point, used on cabinetry and the ceiling to tie everything together and complement wood, stone, and brass. Decorator’s White CC-20 offered counterbalance, allowing arched openings, furnishings, and surfaces to take focus. “To give that level of refinement its full expression, I turned to Anthony Burns, whose expertise spans painting, wallcoverings, plaster, and prep that makes subtle finishes read beautifully,” she adds. Together, they used paint to quietly define the home’s architecture.
Since beginning their collaboration in 2021, Ramchandani and Burns have developed a shorthand rooted in trust that allows her to focus on design while he brings precision to every surface. “Paint sharpens your eye and your attention to detail,” Burns says. “Every successful finish begins long before the final coat.”

At Stil James, Natalie Owens and Victoria Armour approach design through how a client wants to live at day’s end. Their human-centred perspective is shaped by creative vision, thoughtful project management, and fluency in people, giving their Halifax studio an intuitive point of view. “We start with understanding the client and what they want,” Armour says. That instinct revealed itself in a recent project, where a black fireplace shifted one room from bright ease to rich drama, leading the partners to pivot from Swiss Coffee OC-45 to Smokey Taupe 983. “We needed the neutral to be very moody yet warm,” Owens shares.
In the dining room, a bold wallcovering inspired a Blue Gaspe 1435 colour wash across cabinetry, trim, and baseboards, unifying pattern, art, and millwork. Bringing those layered palettes to life called for Guillaume Tremblay, whose resolute relationship with the designers rests on trust and precision. From careful prep to the interplay of ulti-matte walls, satin/pearl trim, and flat ceilings, Tremblay understands how product quality shapes the final effect. “Benjamin Moore has been a huge part of my business from day one,” he says. “Their finishes always deliver.”

For Christina Kim, colour is a guiding force, giving architecture dimension, nuance, and presence. For one recent project, that sensibility came to life with Opulence OC-69, a luminous shade used across walls, ceilings, trim, cabinetry, and whitewashed pine to create an enveloping ease. “I love Opulence OC-69,” Kim says. “It has the slightest hint of a pink undertone that is flattering to everyone, and it absorbs light beautifully.” By contrast, the homeowner’s office offered a more intimate counterpoint with Lush AF-475, a choice inspired by a vintage green lamp, giving the space the depth and character of a handsome retreat.
Bringing those decisions to life required Bill Alpaugh, whose five decades of experience are matched by his steadfast rapport with Kim. Over more than six years, the designer and painter have built a relationship founded on dependability, sincerity, and a shared belief that every surface matters, allowing paint to become both craft and composition. “Perfection is where I’m going,” Alpaugh says. “You never get there, but you’ve got to come as close to being as absolutely perfect as you can.”

Elegance in Jonathan Savage’s interiors is never about excess, but about knowing where the eye should rest. That signature expertise and discipline bring warmth to a formal Nashville residence, turning grandeur into rooms that feel layered, livable, and considered. “The goal was to make the home more family friendly and inviting,” Savage says. Icicle 2142-70 became part of that transformation, lending the dining space a serene glow that complements its ornate paneling, architecture, and collected furnishings.
Behind that refined effect is Kevin Salyer. From preparation to brushwork to finish, his meticulous hand allows the room’s subtle tones to read with depth and polish. “Jonathan makes his vision very vivid to me,” Salyer says. “Once I see it in my head, I know what to do.” Over five years, the two have developed a creative shorthand rooted in candour, humour, and exacting standards, with Salyer brought in early to help translate ideas into lasting surfaces. For Savage, that partnership is essential: “If Kevin’s on my team, I’ve got nothing to worry about.” Together, they show how paint can soften formality, sharpen architecture, and give a historic room an air of ease.
