Cozy Cabin
Paint Colours & Inspiration

Manifest the woodland home of your dreams with this palette of rustic-ready paint colours, curated by our colour and design team.

Informed by nature, cozy cabin and cottage-style homes provide warm, welcoming enclaves: These are spaces you want to hunker down in.

Use Benjamin Moore’s colour palette—including forest green (the aptly named Jack Pine 692) cedar brown, lakeside blue, crisp white, and a goes-with-anything toasted neutral—to bring warm, cozy cabin style to your home.

The Rustic Warmth of a Cozy Cabin

“The first step in creating a cozy cabin vibe is to take cues from your surroundings,” advises colour and design expert Arianna Cesa.

Here, kitchen walls in Iron Gate 1545, a warm, versatile hue, provide the perfect backdrop for Black Bean Soup 2130-10 on a simple curio. Off-white Soft Chamois OC-13-painted trim and ceiling lighten—and balance—the look.

Other paint colours we love for adding nature-inspired depth include Northwood Brown 1000, Colonial Verdigris CW-530, and Tamarind AF-120. If you prefer lighter neutrals, consider Meditation AF-395, Balboa Mist OC-27, and from our Historical Collection, Shaker Beige HC-45, one of our most popular paint colours.

Natural Materials for Natural Living

A cozy couch, sheepskin throw, large wooden coffee table and a wide swath of natural light make this cabin-meets-contemporary living room both inviting and elegant.

Classic shades of white create an effortless envelope for any space. Consider these white-on-white colour pairings:

Communal Space Meets Country Living

Getting back to nature is a group activity. Open floor plans foster a sense of connection within a shared space. Use seating clusters and accent colours to divide open space rooms organically.

In this modern cabin interior design, cabinets in Steep Cliff Gray 2122-20 against White Dove OC-17 separate the kitchen from the rest of the communal space. Stone and wood materials bring the beauty of the outdoors in, while a crackling fire encourages conversation from comfy armchairs.

Creating a Relaxation Nook

Whether in a city apartment, suburban home, or tried-and-true cabin in the woods, making time to unplug and unwind is always important. In this comfy corner, White Diamond OC-61 walls keep the space light and airy, while Mozart Blue 1665, on the lower third of the wall, highlights the best seat in the house.

Create architectural details of your own using subtle neutrals like Edgecomb Gray HC-173, Lambskin OC-3 and Ipanema AF-245, or opt for something striking with Caldwell Green HC-124, Lucerne AF-530, and Cinnamon Slate 2113-40.

Boost White Walls with Painted Flooring

Shape the lodge of your dreams with colours inspired by glittering waterways and soft, blue-gray skies.

In this sweet bathroom, crisp White Heron OC-57 beadboard walls and Blue Daisy 2062-40 floors evoke lakeside tones. A vintage clawfoot tub and the Cascade White 2127-70 ceiling exude the peaceful quietude of cozy cabin living.

Love the look of a boldly painted floor against white and off-white walls? For warm white spaces, consider Warmed Cognac AF-235 or Taste of Berry 2085-40 on floors. For cooler white spaces, our colour experts love green Seedling AF-450 or charcoal gray Stormy Sky 1616. The sturdy nature of Floor & Patio Latex Enamel makes a striking, colourful painted floor well within reach.

Stained Siding for a Cozy Cabin

Did you know there is a wide range of gorgeous exterior stain colours in a range of opacities, in addition to classic clear stain?

“Clear stain shows the full grain of the wood,” explains Mike Mundwiller, Benjamin Moore’s End-User Product Experience Manager. “Translucent, Semi Transparent and Semi Solid stains show less and less grain, respectively, without completely obscuring the natural colour and texture. Solid stain, available in all 3,500 Benjamin Moore colours, masks the wood grain, while allowing the texture to show through.”

This relaxed country home boasts barn doors and wood siding in Ashland Slate 1608, ARBORCOAT® Semi-Solid stain. Crisp white trim—stained in ARBORCOAT Solid—frames the look beautifully.

Other exterior stain colours we love include Garrison Red HC-66, Alexandria Beige HC-77, and Amherst Gray HC-167.

Dark and Dramatic Cabin Exteriors

If you’re more “artist’s retreat” than “fisher’s getaway,” lean into a spirited twist on the classic cabin with deeper exterior hues. Dark, dramatic exteriors paint colours we love include Evening Dove 2128-30, Witching Hour 2120-30, and Silhouette AF-655.

Here, hunter green Jack Pine 692 reflects the landscape, adding to the tucked away, fairy tale style of this hidden retreat. Stone steps and Shaker Gray 1594 railing offer a sleek contrast, enhanced by thriving foliage.
