W.T. Kenney is a fourth-generation commercial painting firm founded by Walter Kenney and based in Arlighton, Mass. For more than 80 years, the company has been successfully applying paint and coatings throughout New England. It completes 450 commercial jobs or more each year and employs more than 50 experienced painting professionals, a handful of which have worked with the company 50 years or longer each.
Painting an Apartment Exterior, Armed with Expertise
Product knowledge, perserverance and attention to detail were required of the professionals working on the 20 vertical masonry towers and 504 individual patio panels. The seven-story fluted block masonry towers required close to 1,200 gallons of paint and primer, and the green and blue panels on the patios required approximately 200 more. Two aerial boom lifts carried crew members up to heights reaching 80 feet as they toiled June through November
Crews pressure-washed each of the vertical masonry towers. Then, they applied Benjamin Moore® Ultra Spec® Masonry Int/Ext 100% Acrylic Sealer to penetrate and seal the surface, protect from future moisture, and provide an excellent foundation for the top coat. The top coat consisted of two sprayed coats of Aura® exterior in Admiral Blue 2065-10, from Benjamin Moore's comprehensive Color Preview® collection.

"Aura was chosen for its excellent coverage characteristics with the saturated colors," says project manager Eric Pacheco. Coatings were sprayed to help the paint work into all the nooks and crannies of the fluted block.
Workers degreased each of the 504 patio panels with Benjamin Moore Clean multipurpose cleaner. They knew that using a bonding primer would be a critical next step, so they chose Benjamin Moore Corotech® Waterborne Bonding Primer. They finished wth two top coats of Aura exterior paint in Electric Blue 2061-40 and Basil Green 2029-10, both from Color Preview.
